3D milling control works on the principle of using 3D design models and GPS receivers, or robotic total station to control milling depth in accordance to the 3D design model.

3D Differential Milling

Differential milling control is the most advanced 3D milling technique, which does not require any surveying crew or any specialist to assist the system. It uses horizontal position data from GPS to set correct milling depth in mm from a pre-calculated database of differences between the digital terrain model of the road before resurfacing and 3D design model. The milling machine knows the correct milling depth in any road location from the data of GPS horizontal position. This enables flexible planning of the work area.

The milling operation is often taking place in full traffic and is dependent on its intensity as well as on the weather. The project manager often has to make quick decisions when and where to mill based on these factors. The 3D differential milling technology enables the milling to start and re-start anywhere as required without any extra preparations (setting up total stations, base stations, etc.)

Millimeter accuracy (High Accuracy)

Exact Street 3D Differential Milling Unit guarantee an mm accuracy milling operation based on the 3D digital design. It uses horizontal position data from GPS to set the correct milling depth in mm from pre-calculated database of differences between digital terrain model of the road before resurfacing and 3D digital design model.

Exact Street Differential Milling Unit system utilizes two GPS receivers to guarantee the best possible horizontal accuracy. Advanced algorithms combine data from these two GPS, data from digital models and data from the milling machine to calculate the correct milling depth and provide on-line evaluation of milling quality.

Labor saving

Exact Street differential milling unit  is the most advanced 3D milling system , which does not require experts for assistance in operation (no surveying crew or any specialist to assist the system). No total station or other surveying equipment is required(or need to be set up). All system is controlled through regular milling machine control panel (Wirtgen Level Pro), meaning that not additional training of the milling crew is necessary.

Time saving

Exact Street reduces milling depth in areas of the road that are already low, such as sunken culvert, ruts or potholes, and increases milling in higher points of the road, which can reduce milled material by 20 to 40%. Less milling means a faster milling operation by 25% on average.

CO2

Exact Street can provide the information to the milling operation to only remove the minimum material required to produce the best results. Therefore, less energy is used in milling, less asphalt is milled, less energy used in transporting and disposal of removed asphalt.

This is the most important benefit. Reduction of energy used equals significant reduction of greenhouse gases produced and enables your organization to help join the combined efforts of the world to help protect our environment.
